This commission involved master planning and subsequent design for improvements to the campus of Second Presbyterian Church. Gilbert|McLaughlin|Casella Architects developed an exterior scheme to engage the church with the beautiful site, centrally located at a main street in a vibrant urban neighborhood, and an interior scheme to expand the educational and ministry facilities surrounding the beautifully proportioned existing sanctuary. Together these designs work to create a complete experience within the church campus, allowing the congregation to interact with the site and the neighborhood with new classroom and multipurpose spaces inside, and courtyard, worship, and contemplative columbarium spaces outside.
